ABOUT NORWEGIAN HIKING FESTIVAL

In this region nature offers an amazing variety of possibilities in short distances. Here you will find the mountain massif of Trollheimen only half an hour away from the open sea and the fjord landscape.

Rindal, Surnadal, Tingvoll and Heim are situated in a breathtaking area. Nature is the basis for a wide range of businesses here. Agriculture, forestry and fishing are the old, traditional businesses. The variety of access to nature represents an important arena for harvesting and extra food. Hunting, fishing, picking berries and mushrooms are some of the harvesting possibilities.

Hiking is a form of recreation that is deep rooted in the population here. It is an identity that is easy to tap into, and to share with others; neighbors, friends, tourists.

Our intention is to make the hiking festival a beacon of tourism at this region Inner Nordmøre. The festival will be build stone by stone, and slowly it will grow and find its shape...

People from other parts of the country choose to settle in our area because of the great outdoor opportunities! We have a rich cultural history to tell- stories of mountain farm life, pioneering work and old agriculture and industrial history. Here you can find traces of old pack roads and pilgrimage leaders. And we can tell you bear killing stories and stories of our ancient local legends.

This is the cultural legacy we want to communicate through guided hikes and walks in our area. We want to embrace all our customers, so we can offer the warmest welcome to everyone. We want to tell our guests and tourists about our old and our new cultural history. We want to keep our cultural history alive by communicating the stories and by using the rich facilities given to us.

Another important aspect in the establishment of the Hiking Festival is to get people out into the nature. To use it. To enjoy it at their level of mastering. Young, old, family announced or not.

We want to invite you into our nature and culture, by ourselves and the stories associated with the landscape and people. It is good for both body and soul to walk in nature. The core values of our festival are: NATURE, CULTURE AND PUBLIC HEALTH. As we pursue our vision of making the Norwegian Hiking Festival a national and international arena for a sustainable meeting between people, nature and culture, we never lose sight of our founding principles and our proud heritage.
